![]() WAYS TO GET INVOLVED VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES EqualityToledo is collaborating with RAY (Rainbow Area Youth, a support group for LGBTQ youth), to help alleviate some of the burden on their adult volunteers. They are in need of snack donations for their weekly Wednesday evening meetings for 10 – 15 participants. Each week the young people are provided with snacks and for some of them, this may even be the only meal they receive. Snack ideas include: chips, salsa, crackers, animal crackers, popcorn, pretzels, fruit, vegetables, pop-tarts, granola bars, pizza, water, pop, juice, cups, plates, and utensils. All donations are welcome, but it would be preferable for some things to be individually packaged, such as cans of soda pop, bottled water, chips, pretzels, granola bars, etc. This is best to limit the spread of germs, or when a youth may need to take some food with them. They are also in need of LGBTQ movies, books, and resources that you may have to add to their youth reference library. Magazines are the only thing they are not looking for as they already have plenty. They are also in need of phone cards for youth to use who need to make contact with others and are in fear of their family’s discovery. Rainbow Area Youth (RAY) is also looking for adult volunteers to help co-facilitate and provide support for the local lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning youth. They are seeking individuals who are dedicated and passionate to working with LGBTQ youth. If you are interested in volunteering for RAY, it is a serious time commitment of a minimum of 6 months with the expectation of attending at least 2 meetings per month. The group meets every Wednesday from 6:30 pm until 9 pm. If you are interested, please contact the Shannon Frye, Executive Director of RAY at: phone number: (567) 249-7135 or email: toledo_ray@yahoo.com to complete an application, interview, and criminal background check. _________________________________________________________________________________________________ KROGER COMMUNITY REWARDS Kroger has created a fund raising program for non-profits called Community Rewards.
